Social Networking for Higher Education

As we all know, in this modern age, internet can be said as one of our basic needs. The internet can be described as "information by the tip of the finger". With the existence of internet, it is easier to search for information by the click of a finger than by going through books/interview just to get some information that we didn't know. As for teenagers nowadays, they are exposed to modern devices since the early age and would require the internet in order for them to have some fun and stay connected with their friends. one of the ways
for them to stay connected is by using the social medias. However, they will use the internet more to have fun instead of using it properly which is they can have fun using the social networking, but at the same time they can also gain benefit by using it for education purposes. Below i will talk about some of the applications which every people from different groups of age can use in order to make their life easier in terms of studying and doing their assignments. 

Google Docs

Google Docs is a web-based application where you can create, write and edit documents online. Google Docs can be used anytime and anywhere, provided there must be an internet access. The way to use Google Docs is more or less the same as how the Microsoft Words can be used which is you can write with various fonts and different formatting. But what makes it more special is that your work will be saved automatically in the Google Drives (file storage created by Google). So if anything happen to your laptop, your work is still safe! Besides that, you can add multiple writers in one document. For example, when you need to do group essay, everyone who was added into the documents can read and edit what was written. Another pros of Google Docs is that the user can add 'adds-on' such as paperpile for citation to make the work easier.

Google Drive

Google Drive is a file storage that was created by Google. Google Drive helps to save and synchronize all of our stuff that are connected to our own google account. All of our works that we did on Google Docs, Google Slide and other documents, can be saved in Google Drive. Google Drive can also be downloaded and access through our handphones/tablets and can be accessible anywhere and anytime.

Twitter & Facebook 

Twitter and Facebook are some of the most popular social media that is being used by different group of ages. Most of the elder people tend to use Facebook, while most of the young people tend to use Twitter. Eventhough both of these apps are used more towards connecting with other people, it can also be used for education. Some accounts will post about facts, science and even news. It is also a great platform for young entrepreneurs where they can start and promote their business through the social medias.

Youtube

One of the most visited site, Youtube, is a site where people can search many types of videos. Some of the popular categories that that can be found on Youtube are music, games, sport and trending videos. However, the youtube are not limited to only entertainment videos. Youtube can also be used as a learning materials. We can learn tutorials step by step through Youtube. For example, we can learn how to play the basics chord for piano/guitar for free without needing to attend any class.
